Agenda: 8 October Community Board meeting

The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 8 October at 9am in the Papanui boardroom. The agenda includes: a proposed car parking upgrade for Winston Avenue (pic); proposed road names for a development off Prestons Road; and $2,801 of proposed grants for “Summer with your Neighbours”. At Alert Level 2 the boardroom will not be open to the public, but the meeting will be livestreamed on the Board’s Facebook page, and members of the public can request to make a public forum or deputation by Zoom. Cranford Basin Kahikatea Forest Community Planting: 10 October


Conservation Volunteers New Zealand has another kahikatea forest planting day coming up at Cranford Basin on Sunday 10 October, from 10am to 1pm. The event will be going ahead at Alert Level 2 but registrations are essential to ensure numbers are managed. 17 September Community Board meeting outcomes

At the 17 September meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: approved a P3 school day parking area on Courtenay Street as part of the St Albans Safer Routes to School project; received a briefing on St Albans Park rubbish bins; and received an area report on issues and initiatives within the Board area. Papanui tree planting/maintenance events this Friday and Saturday

Papanui tree planting and maintenance opportunities: tomorrow Friday 24 September from 9:30am there’s an opportunity to work alongside Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and the Rotary Club of Papanui to release plantings at Papanui Bush; and on Saturday 25 September from 10am there’ll be another community planting event at the Cranford Basin Kahikatea Forest. Both events will go ahead at Alert Level 2, with registrations essential to manage numbers. Links for more information and to register are:

CNC update: low noise sealing & noise monitoring

A September project update has information on the final low-noise asphalt to be applied on the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC), as well as noise monitoring results and comparisons with noise on other Christchurch roads. The update states that current noise levels on the CNC “compared well” with the noise levels for other roads in Christchurch. The final chip seal and then low-noise asphalt layers will be laid starting in mid to late October, as soon as the weather is dry and the ground temperatures are warm enough. The first section planned to receive this treatment is in the Redwood area, between QEII Drive and the Styx Bridge. Click through to read more:
