Community engagement in the Papanui Ward in Christchurch, New Zealand
If you’re heading towards Papanui from the north tonight or tomorrow night, watch out for a southbound closure on Main North Road in Belfast. See this post from Transport for Christchurch for information on the timing & detour.
Traffic and safety concerns on Langdons Road have been raised in comments on Think Papanui this week, and also feature on the front page of today’s Nor’West News. The Northlink development has a large amount of on-site parking, but with a high number of vehicle movements, parking on Langdons Rd has been removed to improve visibility. The final stage of the development at the back of the site cannot open until lights have been installed at the Langdons/Greers intersection, but the timing for that is unclear and Council hasn’t budgeted for the lights. The full digital edition of the Nor’West News can be found at:

More shops opening in the Northlink development on Langdons Road: Coupland’s (open now); Noel Leeming, Bargain Chemist, Torpedo 7, The Baby Factory, looking ready to open within days.

Prestons Road will be closed westbound from tomorrow Wednesday 17 June for about a month, at the new bridge over the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC). During this time the new bridge will be tied in to the existing road. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Hawkins, Radcliffe, and Main North Road – allow for delays. Fares are being charged again on public transport from today, but Metrocards keep the cost down and are available free during June while stocks last.
