Work Notices for Guthries Road and Winters Road have been published also – did you know that from February 2017 Winters Road will be permanently closed to motor vehicles between Autumn Place and QEII Drive? This project combines the Transport Agency’s Northern Arterial (a new section of SH74 running from just south of the Waimakariri River to QEII Drive near Winters Rd) and two Christchurch City Council projects that link QEII Drive to Cranford St and four-lane Cranford St to Innes Rd.

Unconfirmed minutes from the Papanui-Innes Community Board’s 9 December meeting are available now. Decisions included: Blighs Road (extend the no passing line, request a video audit and report back in the new year); Papanui Leagues Club ($15,000 granted towards lighting in Papanui Domain); many other decisions also – see the minutes for details. The next meeting of our Community Board is scheduled for Friday 10 February 2017 at 9am in the Papanui Boardroom.

Plans finalised for two new major cycleways

Northern Line cycleway plans have been finalised by the Major Cycleway Routes Committee. From today’s news release: “The main change to the Northern Line is the alternative route [eg Farnswood Place / Redwood Park] will no longer be required as the Council has been able to confirm with Kiwirail the use of the rail corridor.” Keep an eye out for project updates and photos on Think Papanui once construction gets underway:

Papanui residents fight rest home rebuild and expansion

The resource consent hearing for the Windermere Rest Home rebuild will take place next week. The hearing is open for the public to attend, and is set down for December 12 to 14. Think Papanui has been advised by the Council that the hearing will start at 9am each day, in Conference Room 1 in the Hereford Street Christchurch City Council building.
