Work on safety improvements at the Cranford Street / McFaddens Road intersection will get underway on Monday 20 January.
For around a week there will be a 24-hour closure of McFaddens Road at the intersection, and a lane drop will be in place on Cranford Street northbound. For some of this time there will be night closures of Cranford Street northbound. Take care if you are in the area and watch for detours and changed traffic conditions.
This work was approved by the Waipapa Community Board in May 2024, following an independent post-construction Safety Audit which identified a ‘Serious’ issue relating to left-turning vehicles from McFaddens Road running the red light at the pedestrian crossing on Cranford Street. The audit also raised a ‘Significant’ issue around red light running associated with northbound traffic.
