More issues with Langdons / Mary / Main North traffic signals
There seems to be a persistent problem plaguing the traffic signals at the Langdons / Mary / Main North Rd intersection – they’ve been flashing yellow again this afternoon. Take care if you are in the area, and keep an eye on Transport for Christchurch for further news.
Condell/Aorangi safety improvements complete
Work to improve pedestrian safety at the Condell Ave / Aorangi Rd intersection has been completed, and the road is fully open in all directions.
[Now fixed] Langdons/Mary/Main North traffic signals faulty this morning
[Update 8:15am: Transport for Christchurch report that the fault has been repaired and the lights are now fully operational.]

Community Boards to consider Marshland Rd speed limit
The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet jointly with the Waitai/Coastal-Burwood Community Board this Friday 21 August at 10:30am in the Papanui boardroom. There is one main item on the agenda: a recommendation that that Council changes the 70km/h speed limit on Marshland Road to 60km/h. This is a follow-up to changes made to speed limits in the area in 2019, at which time a section of Marshland Road was left unchanged pending further information from staff. The advice from staff is that 60km/h is a safe speed for the road as it is, and that it is not viable to change the road design to make it compatible with the current speed limit. ‘Bin Good’ stickers available from Council
The Christchurch City Council is offering stickers for the lids of our red, green, and yellow kerbside collection bins, with up-to-date information on what goes in each. The stickers are available at Council libraries and service centres.
Council consults on community strategy
The Christchurch City Council’s Strengthening Communities Strategy is a framework to guide the Council’s work with community organisations. The Council is revisiting the strategy, and is seeking public feedback. Submissions can be made online, and workshops and discussions are being organised by staff. Grimseys Rd subway to close overnight
The Grimseys Road pedestrian & cycle subway under QEII Drive is scheduled to be closed tonight for asphalt works. After a series of weather- and supply-related delays, hopefully it’ll be 4th time lucky and completed overnight.
