2 October Board meeting outcomes
At the 2 October meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: heard from a resident in relation to the Erica Lodge Resource Consent application; and received a briefing on the proposed change to the District Plan in relation to the extension of the Homebase retail development. Spring Fling: This Saturday 10 October from 8am to 1pm there’ll be books, plants, a garage sale, and baking at St Silas Church Hall, 237 Main North Road in Redwood. See the flyer for details.
Board to consider submissions to Council
The submissions committee of the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 9 October at 10am in the Papanui boardroom, to formulate submissions on: bus stop changes at The Palms; the Colombo St cycle connection; and the proposed District Plan change relating to short-term accommodation such as Air BnB. A Bottle-O for Papanui?
A Bottle-O for Papanui? The Council’s District Licencing Committee has received an application for a new off-licence, to operate as Bottle-O Papanui at 30 Main North Road (next door to the Rose and Thistle). Proposed hours of operation are Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. See the Council’s public notice for more information, including the process for lodging objections. QEII/Grimseys intersection closed this week
The QEII/Grimseys intersection will be fully closed from Monday 5 through to Sunday 11 October. There will be milling and paving of the road, with the final asphalt surface applied. Click through for more information:

Voting places open at Northlands
Voting in the general election and referendums has started. This year there are two places at Northlands Shopping Centre where you can vote – these will be open daily right through to election day on 17 October. Community tree planting at Cranford Basin: 10 Oct
On Saturday 10 October the public can join in planting some of the 40,000 kahikatea trees planned for the Cranford Basin. Wear gumboots, bring your own tools and gloves if you have them, and meet at 103 Philpotts Road. The event runs from 10am to 12pm, with a BBQ lunch to finish. Board submissions to Council on trees, community facilities, aquatic experience
On 25 September, the submissions committee of the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board formulated submissions to Council on: the draft tree policy; the Community Facilities Network Plan; and the Aquatic Sensory Experience at the Metro Sports Facility.
