Plan for managing northern motorway traffic released

At the end of 2018, it was reported that the next meeting of the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board would be on 8 February 2019, however it appears to have been brought forward to this Friday, possibly to coincide with the release of the draft Northern Corridor Downstream Effects Management Plan. Follow this link for more information on what’s being proposed, including peak period clearways along part of Cranford Street, intersection upgrades, and additional traffic lights.

Construction work underway at Windermere rest home site

Construction work is underway at the Windermere rest home site. In 2016 & 2017 Think Papanui reported on the contested Resource Consent application for this rebuild & expansion. The original proposal was for a two and three-storey facility with 151 rooms and units, and for the 25 villas currently remaining on the site to be demolished – it isn't clear what changes (if any) were made to that design in order to gain Resource Consent.

Having a post-Christmas tidy-up? Sending Love NZ is an initiative to deliver Christmas cards to people who may experience loneliness over Christmas. In Christchurch more than 3,000 cards were delivered in the lead-up to Christmas, including to a number of rest homes in the Papanui area, but there weren't enough cards to get around them all. If you would to donate Christmas cards for 2019 (either new or pre-loved able to be recycled into new cards), please follow these links for contact details:
