Reminder: Grimseys Road / QEII Drive intersection closing

[ad_1]

Reminder: the intersection of Grimseys Road and QEII Drive will be closed once again, to allow further construction of the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC) project. This was previously advertised as happening from Monday 3 September but it looks like it will be from the evening of Sunday 2 September. When Think Papanui drove along Prestons Road this morning, it looked like traffic lights were about to be set up where there has been a one-way section due to road works, so there should be an option to travel east on Prestons again, but note that it will be one way at a time, so delays can be expected.

This week’s Nor’West News mis-reports Board meeting outcome

[ad_1]

This week's Nor'West News appears to mis-report the outcome of last Friday's Community Board meeting. Contrary to what's in the paper this week, Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board deputy chair Emma Norrish advises that the Board has not approved the proposed Main North Road bus priority project, and that the Board will revisit the project at a later meeting. (Also, the Board is due to meet today 29 August, specifically to deal with Strengthening Communities funding decisions.)

No decision yet on the Main North Rd bus priority project

[ad_1]

No decision yet from the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board on the Main North Road bus priority project (or on Strengthening Communities funding allocations). See this post for more information.

At today’s Papanui Innes Community Board meeting we received the petition from 9 year old Shannon asking for a pump track in Shirley, and requested staff to come back to us with a report on this.

We then heard deputations from three submitters on the Main North Rd bus priority project, before spending a considerable amount of time hearing from staff about the proposal. Board members aired a number of concerns and had a number of questions about the project which were discussed with staff, but…
