This event is for ages 12-24

The Environment Canterbury Regional Council sets Long Term Plans (LTP) to set out a 10-year budget that includes building and renewing key infrastructure. In order for the youth voice to be heard, we’re holding Kai + Consultation, making the process easier for everyone who attends!

The Environment Canterbury Youth Engagement Team is working to equip tomorrow’s citizens to support a sustainable region.

The Christchurch Youth Council are a voice for the youth of Christchurch, wanting Christchurch to be the best city it can be, and for youth to be involved in making that happen.

Due to a crash on QEII Dr at the intersection of Phillpotts Rd we are starting to see traffic backing on in both directions.

Neighbours Day Community Event

23 February board meeting outcomes – Papanui Bush approved

Great news for nature lovers! At last week’s meeting, the Papanui-Innes Community Board approved the first stage of planting in the project to restore Papanui Bush at Bridgestone Reserve. Initial funding for this project is available from the Council’s stormwater budget, enabling around 1,520 native trees to be planted at the north and south ends of the reserve. Several schools and the Papanui Rotary Club have also confirmed their intention to contribute. While the photo below shows the portion of the reserve visible from Langdons Road, please note that it continues for several hundred metres beside the railway line behind the former Firestone/Bridgestone industrial site. Have your say: Christchurch bus routes, fares & rates proposed to change

ECan’s proposal to cut two bus routes in the Papanui area is currently open for feedback. Three options are proposed, all of which include discontinuing the 107 Styx Mill – Northlands and 108 Casebrook – Northlands routes, with no alternative services provided. Four other routes in other parts of the city are also proposed to be discontinued. You have until 26 March 2018 to have your say on this proposal (or any other aspect of Ecan’s Long-Term Plan). Expect delays: the entry to QEII Drive will be closed

Expect delays: the entry to QEII Drive from Main North Road & Northcote Road will be closed on Sunday night 25 February and Monday night 26 February to enable the installation of steel safety barriers as part of the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC) project. This work is expected to take place after 7pm each night. On Tuesday night 27 February traffic on both lanes on QEII Drive near the Grimseys Road intersection are expected to be stopped a short time while barriers are placed. (Also a reminder that from Tuesday evening 27 February Grimseys Road will be closed at QEII Drive through to mid May 2018.)

Neighbourhood Links – Northcote/Redwood free Friday afternoon programme starts today

Neighbourhood Links – Northcote/Redwood is running a free Friday afternoon sport program at Paddington Reserve in collaboration with Te Ora Hou Otautahi. The launch party will be today Friday 23 February, with a free sausage sizzle, bumper balls, gladiator areana and games galore. If the park is too wet after all the rain the event will be postponed – keep an eye on the Neighbourhood Links Facebook Page for updates.
