More details on the agenda for this Friday’s meeting of the Papanui-Innes Community Board…

Agenda of Papanui-Innes Community Board – 27 April 2018

We’ve got a Papanui Innes Community Board meeting this Friday, but unfortunately due to technical difficulties, I haven’t been able to do a video this week.

Here’s a quick run-down on what’s coming up in the meeting though:

– in our public forum we’ll have a report back from a recipient of our Positive Youth Development Scheme, as well as a report from Community Energy Action.

– we have been asked to approve updated ‘no overtaking’ lines leading up to nine different level crossings in our area

– we have an application to our Positive Youth Development Scheme for a young person to attend the Future Problem Solving Championships in Wisconsin, USA

– we have an application to our Discretionary Response Fund from Crimewatch (Chch) Inc. towards vehicle operating costs to enable the delivery of the Northwest area community patrols

– our Community Board Area Report includes updates on the Main North Rd Bus Priority Scheme (consideration is being given to suggestions arising from the many submissions made on this – including regarding parking at the Harewood Rd end, and the possibility of keeping a right hand turn out of Grassmere St), and on the work being done to address maintenance issues in Rutland Reserve.

The Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 27 April at 9am in the Papanui boardroom, and as always the meeting is open for the public to attend. The agenda includes: changes to road markings on the approaches to railway level crossings (some are not currently marked as required by legislation); an application to the Board’s Positive Youth Development Fund; an application to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and an Area Report covering a range of activities and projects. Christchurch Anzac Day services are listed on the page linked below. For Papanui, the service is at the Papanui RSA at 10am (parade starts at 9:15am at St James Avenue). There is also an 8:30am service in Belfast’s Sheldon Park – see the Belfast Community Network Facebook Page for details.

There’s still no solution to give the Christchurch City Council access to the rail corridor for the Northern Line cycleway through Papanui. As reported in this article, the project is hold due to access and design issues with KiwiRail. This is especially bad news for pedestrians & cyclists waiting on the missing section between Sturrocks and Tuckers Roads.

Have your say on a proposed speed limit change on Cranford Street and Main North Road. The Christchurch City Council is proposing a change from 60km/hr to 50km/hr for Cranford Street, and also for the section of Main North Road around the Cranford / QEII Drive area. (The background to this proposal is a recent discovery that there are conflicting gazetted speeds at the Main North/Northcote/QE II Drive intersection, and also some of the adjoining roads are not aligned with NZTA’s safe speed recommendations.) At last Friday’s meeting, the Papanui-Innes Community Board: approved three applications to the Positive Youth Development Fund; approved an application by Te Ora Hou Ōtautahi to the Discretionary Response Fund; and granted $7,000 from its Discretionary Response Fund towards the second phase of the Papanui Bush planting programme.
