This week the Council voted in favour of a staff recommendation that the speed limit in the Prestons subdivision be reduced to 40 km/h. This is despite a motion to recommend this change being voted down at a recent joint meeting of community boards. An extra 150,000 people for greater Christchurch? Local councils and other organisations are collaborating on planning and managing the impacts of growth and development on the Greater Christchurch area. The partnership has published a draft settlement pattern update that looks 30 years ahead, outlining how the region will support future housing and business growth for an expected population increase of 150,000 people. From today 29 October for around three weeks there’ll be roadworks on Main North Rd between Cranford St & Sawyers Arms Rd. Whakaoho – Papanui Community Fun Day is happening next Sunday 4 November from 1pm-4pm, with food vendors, free sausages for kids, dance crew, live music, bouncy castles, horizontal bungee, spray tattoos. A reminder that from Monday 29 October, bus routes in Papanui (and other parts of the city) are changing. The 108 will be discontinued, the 107 has timetable changes, and the 28 will be extended to mostly replace the 108 (but with some differences in both route and timetable).
