On Tuesday 4 February the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet jointly with the Waimāero/Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board to consider a proposed speed limit change for Dickeys Road – part of a larger speed management plan for Christchurch’s north west. Papanui High School has shared this update from the Ministry of Education regarding the coronavirus. Anyone who has been to China or has been in contact with someone known to have the virus is asked to stay away from school for 14 days. Think Papanui’s curator Simon Britten rounds up stories from the past week:

Work is getting underway on the Main North Road bus priority project. This week I shared:

• Start-work information,
• A fly-through video produced by the Council (top post of the week), and
• a couple of photos from the drop-in information session on Tuesday afternoon

The Graham Condon Centre has closed for maintenance. The pools will reopen in April.

The Vinnies shop in Papanui reopened on Monday.

I shared the January newsletter from the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board.

The CNC Alliance has published a new fly-over video of the motorway project.

This afternoon, Go Cycle Christchurch held a cycle skills session for adults. See their Facebook page for future events.

The Council is consulting on options for managing home-share accommodation. There’ll be an information session in Papanui on the 12th of February.

Drilling equipment is on site at the Grassmere Pump Station, to drill a new deeper well as part of the Council’s work on the city water supply.

Plans for a revamp of the St Albans skate park are open for feedback from today through to 17 February.

The Christchurch City Council is considering changes to the District Plan in relation to home-share accommodation (eg Airbnb etc). There appears to be widespread non-compliance with the current Plan, which requires a resource consent for whole unit listings (“only a handful” of hosts have applied for consent, despite an estimated 1600-plus listings requiring them).
