Green light for Langdons/Greers traffic signals
A green light for traffic signals at the Langdons/Greers intersection: the Christchurch City Council has finalised its budget for the coming year. Mike Davidson – Councillor for Papanui has confirmed that this includes provision for signalisation of the Langdons/Greers intersection. The exact timing of construction is yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be around 2024.

17 June Community Board meeting outcomes
On Friday 17 June, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board:

- received three deputations on the Papanui slow speed neighbourhood and one on the Shirley Community Reserve;
- supported the Papanui slow speed neighbourhood, with some additional changes and with the final decision to be made by the Council;
- approved the granting of a lease to the Styx Living Laboratory Trust;
- approved P10 and No Stopping restrictions on Cranford Street;
- received a transport update regarding Langdons Road;
- approved grants from the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund and Positive Youth Development Fund;
- and received an area report on issues and initiatives within the Board area.

Youth event: The Great Christchurch Car Rally
Papanui Youth Development Trust – PYDT is running an event on Friday 1 July where teams of young people will navigate the city in vans and attempt to earn the greatest number of points by completing a wide variety of challenges. High winds forecast for Friday
Better batten down the hatches! There a risk of wild winds on Friday 10 June, both around dawn and in the evening. Make sure loose items are secure and take care if you’re out and about.
Looks like two rounds of very gusty winds are on their way tomorrow! There’s a risk of northwest wind gusts of more than 80km/h around dawn especially in the higher parts of the Port Hills and Banks Peninsula. On Friday evening, there is also a risk of northwest wind gusts of more than 100km/h. These will ease overnight. Make sure your trampoline and any other loose items are secured and take care out there!
