Good news for safety and for the environment: the Wheels to Wings – Papanui ki Waiwhetū major cycle route survived a close shave this week. The Harewood Road cycleway was included in a list of projects slated to be deferred in order to make room in the Council’s capital programme for other walking, cycling, and public transport projects. On Wednesday this week however the Council made a near-unanimous decision to keep the Wheels to Wings on track, as part of a package of decisions on projects to prioritize.
