Harewood Road Corridor Study – update
At the Council meeting on Thursday 6 December 2018, there were two agenda items related to this study.
Agenda item 13, the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board’s recommendation that the Council receive the Harewood Road corridor study and recommended strategies.
This motion was carried, although not supported by Cr Aaron Keown, who raised issues with discrepencies in the report.

Work to install a signalised pedestrian crossing on Papanui Road outside St Andrew’s College is nearing completion. This spot was assessed as having the highest priority in Christchurch for a signalised crossing to support school safety.
The $100,000 renovation of the former Redwood Plunket Rooms is nearly complete. The plan is for the Council-owned space to support local community work.

The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday at 9am in the Papanui boardroom. The agenda includes: the leasing of Belfast Pool to Belfast School for use by the school and community; a possible future modular pump track for the Shirley community; no stopping restrictions for Fenchurch Street at Northcote Road; a time capsule for the rebuild of the St Albans Community Centre; Board meeting arrangements for 2019; and three applications to the Board's Discretionary Response Fund. The Harewood Road Corridor Study discusses high speeds on that road, a future Major Cycle Route, the desire for signals at the Harewood/Breens/Gardiners intersection, an expectation of higher traffic on Northcote Road & Sawyers Arms Road in the future, and reduced traffic on Harewood Road (and more). The Study is on the agenda for consideration at this Thursday’s meeting of the full Council.
