The Windermere Road site, now owned by Te Ora Hou, was the location of Loreto College and Koinonia Christian School. Is is once again possible to turn left out of Grimseys Road onto QEII Drive. Please note that it isn’t possible to turn right out of Grimseys, or to enter Grimseys from either direction of QEII Drive. This configuration is expected to remain until September 2018, and then the intersection will fully close again for about three months, before reopening with its final left-in and left-out layout.

This coming Monday 21 May at 6pm in the Papanui Library is the official opening of this year’s Polyphony youth art exhibition. See this post for more details:

Next Monday 21st May, 6-8pm, at the Papanui Library, we have the opportunity for the rangatahi of the Papanui region to share their voice through images based on the Youth Week theme “Be who you want to be.”
We have young people from different spaces like education, special needs, church and community coming together to share their voice in the form of a picture and korero.
Please come along, hear and see their voices and celebrate their bravery to stand up and speak out.

Wow. In a recent survey of residents, 28% of respondents felt they could participate in and contribute to Christchurch City Council decision making. This is one of a range of findings reported from the survey (and it must be noted that in many other areas the respones were far more positive). The Christchurch City Council received 144 submissions on the proposed changes to speed limits in the Harewood and Yaldhurst areas. No changes to the propsal have been made as a result of the consultation, and the next step will happen at the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board’s 14 May meeting. The recommended decision is that the Board recommends that Council implements the proposed changes, which include a reduction to 60km/h for the top end of Harewood & Sawyers Arms Roads, as well as Styx Mill Road and part of Gardiners Road.
