Severe northwest gales gusting up to 140km/h are forecast to hit Christchurch and Banks Peninsula this evening. The strongest winds are likely to be overnight, and the Council is recommending you secure any outdoor items that have a risk of being blown away and to stay safe and be cautious when out and about.

Closing 5pm today: Summer With Your Neighbours

Reminder: applications for Summer with your Neighbours funding close at 5pm today Friday 10 September 2021. This is a Christchurch City Council initiative to bring people closer together and celebrate the unique and diverse mix of neighbourhoods. Funding is available to support local community gatherings such as street parties, a potluck meal, a neighbourhood sports day, etc. Click through for more information and a link to a funding application form.

3 September 2021 Community Board meeting outcomes

At the 3 September meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: approved funding including for youth recreation events, Summer With Your Neighbours, garden awards and community service awards; approved a contribution towards FC Twenty 11’s replacement of broken goal posts; and discussed COVID impacts on local community organisations. A briefing on rubbish bin placement at St Albans Park was carried forward to the following meeting due to staff availability. The Board will next meet on Friday 17 September. Council facilities to re-open under Alert Level 2

Most of Christchurch City Council’s public facilities will re-open this week under COVID-19 Alert Level 2. Some facilities will operate slightly differently from normal when they reopen because of the additional Alert Level 2 requirements “Please be patient and follow the directions of staff. The changes that will be in place are designed to keep us all safe. You will also need to follow the Government’s advice on mask wearing at our indoor venues.” Click through to read more:
