Strengthening Communities Fund opens for applications

The Christchurch City Council’s Strengthening Communities Fund supports community-focused organisations whose projects contribute to the strengthening of community wellbeing in the Christchurch city area. Applications to the fund open today Monday 8 March and close on 12 April. Decision-making on city-wide projects is handled by a Council committee, while local applications will be presented to the relevant Community Board. Wheels to Wings drop-in session postponed to 11 March

The Wheels to Wings drop-in session planned for this Thursday has been postponed until next week, and the consultation period has been extended through to 15 March. The final drop-in session is now set down for 11am to 3pm on Thursday 11 March at the Bishopdale YMCA. This session will go ahead if we are still in Alert Level 2.

Alert level impacts local events

With the move to Alert Level 2 today a number of local events have been cancelled, postponed, or altered in format. Brass on the Grass at St Paul’s Papanui is not going ahead this afternoon. The Ōtautahi Together concert in the Botanic Gardens has changed to an online-only format. Ōtautahi Together concludes the commemorative programme to mark 10 years since the Christchurch earthquake. Soft plastic recycling in Papanui

Soft plastic recycling has returned to Christchurch. This collection point is at The Warehouse in Northlands. Kilmarnock Enterprises will collect the soft plastics, and bale and palletise the materials for transport back to Auckland, where they will be processed into products including fence posts, veggie boxes, retaining walls and parking stops. 19 February Board meeting outcomes

At the 19 February meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: received four public forum presentations; approved road names for a subdivision in Belfast; approved the three-month trial of bus priority lanes on Cranford Street; approved two grants from the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and received a staff report on issues and initiatives within the Board area. Public meeting to discuss CNC noise concerns

Duncan Webb Labour MP for Christchurch Central has arranged a meeting with Waka Kotahi NZTA for Redwood residents to discuss noise issues with the Christchurch Northern Corridor, and possible mitigations. The meeting is set for 7pm on Wednesday 3 March at St Silas Church.
