Update 3pm: Think Papanui has been advised that this dog has been reunited with her owner.

Q: Anyone missing a dog in the Blighs Rd area?

Found a little brown dog running across blighs rd around waimairi school about half an hour ago, poor thing was going to get itself killed . Have taken it to the vets on papanui rd by St. Andrews school if anyone is looking for it .

New connection to improve cycle link from Papanui to city

New cycling facilities will be installed in Colombo Street south of Bealey Avenue, following a decision by the Christchurch City Council last week. This will link the Papanui Parallel cycleway through to the central city – “This new cycle link will make it easier and safer for those travelling between the city centre and the north of Christchurch,” said Mike Davidson – Councillor for Papanui, who chaired the Hearings Panel for the project.

Representation Review closes 16 May

Now resolved: crash Thursday AM at Cranford/Edgeware

Due to a crash at the intersection with Cranford St and Edgeware Rd, Cranford St is currently reduced to a single lane at the intersection. Motorists travelling south on Cranford St are advised to expect delays. ^JP

7 May Community Board meeting outcomes

At the 7 May meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: approved the renaming of two reserves; granted a ground lease at English Park to ECan for an air quality monitoring station; approved three applications to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and exchanged information on a number of local matters of interest. Now resolved: Western Belfast Bypass closed on Tue 11 May

The Western Belfast Bypass was closed Tuesday afternoon due to a serious crash. This will likely mean increased traffic through the Papanui/Redwood/Belfast area – take care & be alert for changed traffic conditions. Follow Transport for Christchurch for updates.

A serious crash has closed SH1 at the end of the Western Belfast Bypass northbound at the merge point with the Northern Motorway. Road users are being diverted by emergency services. Delays should be expected north of Christchurch until this has been resolved. ^SM

House gets new life in Papanui community

A new building has arrived on the previously-vacant site beside Papanui Baptist Church on Sawyers Arms Road. The house has been donated to the church by Summerset Group and will be used to accommodate staff who work in the local community.
