Found a little brown dog running across blighs rd around waimairi school about half an hour ago, poor thing was going to get itself killed . Have taken it to the vets on papanui rd by St. Andrews school if anyone is looking for it .

There’ll be work underway on Sturrocks Road near Main North Road over the next couple of months, to renew sewer mains and laterals. Take care if you’re in the area and watch out for changed traffic conditions. More details can be found online:

New cycling facilities will be installed in Colombo Street south of Bealey Avenue, following a decision by the Christchurch City Council last week. This will link the Papanui Parallel cycleway through to the central city – “This new cycle link will make it easier and safer for those travelling between the city centre and the north of Christchurch,” said Mike Davidson – Councillor for Papanui, who chaired the Hearings Panel for the project.

Last chance to have your say: the Council is seeking feedback on its Representation Review initial proposal. The proposal includes changes to the boundaries of Papanui Ward, and the Papanui-Innes area is proposed to be represented by a new Community Board comprising of the Papanui, Innes and Central Wards. The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will next meet at 9am on Friday 21 May in the Papanui boardroom. There’s a fairly brief agenda, including: a report-back by a young person funded through the Board’s Positive Youth Development Fund; proposed road names for a development at 8 Blakes Road; and an area report (pictured) on initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area. Due to a crash at the intersection with Cranford St and Edgeware Rd, Cranford St is currently reduced to a single lane at the intersection. Motorists travelling south on Cranford St are advised to expect delays. ^JP”
At the 7 May meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board: approved the renaming of two reserves; granted a ground lease at English Park to ECan for an air quality monitoring station; approved three applications to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and exchanged information on a number of local matters of interest. The Western Belfast Bypass was closed Tuesday afternoon due to a serious crash. This will likely mean increased traffic through the Papanui/Redwood/Belfast area – take care & be alert for changed traffic conditions. Follow Transport for Christchurch for updates.

SH1 NORTHERN MOTORWAY – CRASH – ROAD CLOSED – 12:40 PM TUES, 11 MAY
A serious crash has closed SH1 at the end of the Western Belfast Bypass northbound at the merge point with the Northern Motorway. Road users are being diverted by emergency services. Delays should be expected north of Christchurch until this has been resolved. ^SM“
Work is underway to drill a new well at the Mays Water Supply Pump Station in Papanui. Difficult ground conditions have delayed works, with the project now expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2021. The footpath outside the site is deviated slightly but no other significant traffic impacts are expected.
A new building has arrived on the previously-vacant site beside Papanui Baptist Church on Sawyers Arms Road. The house has been donated to the church by Summerset Group and will be used to accommodate staff who work in the local community.
