The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet at 9am tomorrow Friday 19 November. The agenda includes: a proposed road name for a development at 1090 Main North Road, and an area report covering initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area. One of the nice things with Think Papanui has been the positive engagement by the local community and the very low frequency that comments need to be moderated. A reminder though that insulting/offensive comments etc will be deleted and repeat offenders may be blocked from the page. Maybe there’s something in the water as the last few days have had a number of such examples across several posts. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has better things to do with a long weekend that deal with this. Here’s a photo of my wildflower meadow front garden for your enjoyment. The revised design for the Wheels to Wings Papanui ki Waiwhetū cycleway is open for feedback until Wednesday 17 November. “We’ve changed our original design to address many of the concerns and opportunities raised during the first round of consultation earlier this year,” says Christchurch City Council Acting Head of Transport Lynette Ellis. “We want to know whether the revised design we have come up with hits the mark and if we’ve missed anything.”

The Hearings Panel for the Papanui-University section of Te Ara O-Rakipaoa Nor’West Arc Cycleway will meet next Monday 15 November from 9am. Members of the public wishing to attend the meeting may request to do so via an audio-visual link. The Panel will consider the 424 submissions received, and hear from submitters who wish to be heard. Delayed delivery of a key ingredient in the low noise asphalt layer for the Christchurch Northern Corridor motorway means work won’t be starting this month as had been planned. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency – South Island has advised today that asphalt work is now expected to start “early in the new year”, with completion still expected around April 2022.
