The Christchurch City Council will meet this Thursday 9 April at 10am, with live streaming available via the Council’s website. The agenda includes: an update by the COVID-19 incident management team; an economic recovery update; an item relating to noise effects of the Christchurch Multi Use Arena (stadium); and the approval of further borrowing and onlending to Christchurch City Holdings Ltd (CCHL) in the next financial year. It will be interesting to see what discussion there is at the meeting on the possibility of a 0% rates rise, noting that the lockdown itself is set to cost the city $6m. Kmart Papanui’s 2 April opening date has come and gone, but the retailer has joined others including The Warehouse, Briscoes, Noel Leeming, Mitre 10, and Warehouse Stationery in offering a limited range of essential items to online shoppers.
