Erica Lodge update

Erica Lodge update: at last week’s Council meeting Grant Buchanan spoke on behalf of Erica St residents about the granting of the Resource Consent for the Erica Lodge boarding house.

Mr Buchanan raised a number of points about the process, including:

    • the ability of elderly residents and people for whom English is a second language to engage in the process;
    • initial lack of access to the application documents;
    • the applicant receiving more support in making the application than residents did in responding to it;
    • and the hearing being held across town from Papanui.

Concerns around the resource consent were also discussed in the subsequent report to Council by the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board.

Mayor Lianne Dalziel acknowledged that a number of points raised need to be responded to, and has asked the Chief Executive to do this. Mr Buchanan’s full submission to the Council can be found at the link below:

Agenda of Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board – 18 December 2020

The last meeting of the year for the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will be held this Friday 18 December at 9:15am in the Papanui Boardroom. The agenda includes: a temporary wayfinding sign for Shirley Community Reserve; relocation of a bus stop on North Avon Road; two applications to the Board’s Positive Youth Development Fund; four applications to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and an area report on initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area. Papanui Major Cycleway updates

Two Major Cycleway Routes that are yet to arrive in Papanui are the Nor’West Arc and the Wheels to Wings. A report to next week’s Urban Development and Transport Committee has brief updates on these:

    • Nor’West Arc: Construction is underway for Stage 1 and some of Stage 2 (Cashmere Road through to the University). Route selection from the University through to Harewood Road has been undertaken and will go to public consultation before it is confirmed.
    • Wheels to Wings (connecting Papanui to the airport): Scheme design is being completed ready for consultation late January 2021.

CNC opening hours change

An update on the Christchurch Northern Corridor – opening hours have been changed to the following:
– Thu/Fri 3 & 4 December: open 12pm – 4pm north & southbound
– Saturday 5 December until Thursday 10 December open northbound 9.30am to 4pm, southbound 10am to 4pm
– Friday 11 December closed.
Then on Saturday 12 December there’s a public ‘walk or ride’ open day, after which the road will be closed until it fully opens on Thursday 17 December. Click through for more details:
