The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 20 November at 9:15am in the Papanui boardroom. The agenda includes: five reports back from young people funded by the Board’s Positive Youth Development Fund; a staff recommendation to allocate funding to local youth events including skate jams, a pool party, and Dusk to Dawn; and an area report on initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area. Included in the area report is the public feedback received on the 10 Shirley Road site. The meeting is open for the public to attend, and the full agenda can be found at:

Celebrate Bishopdale is coming up on Sunday 22 November from 11am to 2pm at the Elephant Park. There’ll be stage performances from local schools and groups, as well as information stalls, have-a-go activities, arts and crafts. An update on plans for another liquor store in Papanui: Think Papanui understands that the application for an off-licence for Bottle-O Papanui at 30 Main North Road has been withdrawn by the applicant.
The speed limit on Marshland Road north of Prestons Road is now 60km/h. This follows changes to speed limits in the area in 2019, at which time a section of Marshland Road was left unchanged pending further
information from staff. The advice from staff was that 60km/h is a safe speed for the road as it is, and that it is not viable to change the road design to make it compatible with the previous 70km/h speed limit. The Council approved this change last month, in line with the recommendation from a Joint Meeting of the Coastal-Burwood and Papanui-Innes Community Boards.Today’s Council agenda item to decide the layout of Cranford Street between Innes Rd and Berwick St has been left to lie on the table to be considered at an extraordinary meeting on Thursday 26 November at
12pm, which allows time for further advice to be sought. At today’s meeting, representatives of two of the Council’s ‘Greater Christchurch’ partners (Ecan & Waimakariri District Council) spoke in support of peak-time Bus Only lanes, while another (Waka Kotahi / NZTA) pushed for clearways for general traffic. MP for Christchurch Central Dr Duncan Webb (pictured) asked Councillors to prioritise a bus or high occupancy lane.There’s a new fruit & vege shop open in Papanui – Garden City Produce – Cranford Park, in the retail area near the top of Cranford Street. This locally-owned business has opened a retail outlet after being wholesalers for many years.
Resource Consent for Erica Lodge boarding house in Papanui’s Erica Street has been granted, with a maximum occupancy of 73 tenants including a minimum of one resident on-site manager. Click through to read more:

The agenda for the Council’s meeting this Thursday 12 November includes a final decision on the layout of Cranford Street between Innes Rd and Berwick St. The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board has endorsed
the current design and supported a view that any future changes should not include a clearway. Other options available to the Council include a clearway for general traffic, a High Occupancy Vehicle lane, or a Bus Only lane.
