Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board online Forum this Friday

The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will hold a Community Open Forum this Friday 1 April at 9:30am. This is a public session where members of the public and community groups can speak directly to the Board on issues, activities and projects relevant to the Papanui and Innes Wards. Due to the current public health environment, attendance is only possible via an Audio/Visual link or by viewing the live stream on the Board’s YouTube channel or via the Board’s Facebook page. 18 March Community Board meeting outcomes

On Friday 18 March, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board:

    • received public forum presentations and a deputation on local issues;
    • approved a change of classification and grant of easements for a reserve in Belfast;
    • approved slow speed zones in the Shirley area;
    • approved a programme of road upgrades and improvements in Richmond;
    • approved road renewals for Nicholls St and Stapletons Rd;
    • approved no stopping restrictions in the Grampian-Jocelyn St slip lane;
    • and received an area report on issues and initiatives within the Community Board area.

Council offering financial help to community groups

Applications have opened to the Council’s Strengthening Communities Fund, which supports community-focused organisations whose projects contribute to the strengthening of community wellbeing in the Christchurch city area.

Last year, 36 organisations in the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board area received a total of $340,820.00 in grants ranging in size from $600 to $55,000. Applications close on 26 April 2022.

New cycle lanes coming for Colombo Street

A contractor has been engaged to begin work on the Colombo Street cycle connection, which will better connect the south end of the Papanui Parallel major cycle route into the city. A section of Colombo Street in this area will also be resurfaced in coordination with the cycleway works. Click through for more information:

Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board agenda: 18 March

The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 18 March at 9:30am.

The agenda includes:

    • public participation;
    • reclassification of a reserve and granting of easements to enable subdivision at Spring Grove in Belfast;
    • a 40 km/h speed zone for Shirley;
    • a programme of road upgrades and improvements in Richmond;
    • road renewals for Nicholls St and Stapletons Rd;
    • no stopping restrictions in the Grampian-Jocelyn St slip lane;
    • and an area report on initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area.

Organic bin collections delayed in north-west Christchurch Friday 11 March

If your green bin hasn’t been emptied today, this might be why. Bins not emptied today will be collected on Saturday 12 March.

We are experiencing delays in our kerbside collection today. As a result, some organic bins may not be collected in parts of north-west Christchurch.
