The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet at 9am on Wednesday 16 June. The agenda includes: a report back by a young person funded by the Board’s Positive Youth Development Fund; applications to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund from Papanui Redwood AFC, Belfast Netball Club, and the Styx Living Laboratory Trust; and an area report on initiatives and issues current within the Board area. The meeting is open for the public to attend.

4 June Community Board meeting outcomes

At the 4 June meeting, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board approved grants from the Board’s Discretionary Response fund to: the Papanui Community Toy Library; Papanui Leagues Club; St Albans Residents Association; and Northcote School. [Since resolved] Stuck truck: turning lane under Main North Rd bridge blocked

Update 12:40PM: the truck is gone and the road is fully open.

The right turn / U-turn for northbound traffic under the Main North Road bridges between Redwood & Belfast is currently blocked. The truck involved has a full load of concrete and it is unclear how long it will take to extricate it. Thanks to the alert member of the public who notified Think Papanui of this incident.

Papanui Bush clean-up day postponed

There was a clean-up day planned for Papanui Bush this Friday 4 June 2021, but this has been postposed. The bush plantings are around the margins of a stormwater retention area, and as you can see it is currently holding a large amount of water. Photo credit: Parks Team, Christchurch City Council.

Wastewater issues in Aranui/Shirley

There are currently some issues with the waste water system in St Heliers Crescent in Aranui, and on the following streets in Shirley: Warden Street; Cargill Place; North Parade; Hope Street; Hercules Street.
The Council currently has sucker trucks out in Shirley to help with the situation, but for the next 24 hours residents in the area are asked to avoid doing washing, and to flush toilets only when absolutely necessary.
