Enabling works are underway in preparation for construction of the sections of the Northern Line major cycleway between Tuckers Road & Sturrocks Road and also north of Barnes Road to Main North Road. Stormwater culvert pipes are being extended at the Tuckers Rd level crossing, and work will then move to Barnes Road. Cycleway path corridor works are expected to commence in December 2022 and take approximately four months. Please note that Tuckers Road is currently fully closed at the level crossing, with detours in place.

Tree planting at Papanui Bush: 24 September
This Saturday 24 September from 9am there’ll be a community tree planting day at Papanui Bush, supported by the Rotary Club of Papanui. Access is via Bridgestone Reserve, 42 Langdons Road. Wear gloves and strong footwear or gumboots, and note that the rain day is Monday 26 September. See the poster for more information.
Assessment week at Papanui High School
It’s assessment week for senior students at Papanui High School this week. When students are not involved with an assessment at school they are expected to use the study leave to prepare for their exams and assessments or continue with set class work either at home or school. Papanui Library to close from Monday 19 September
Papanui Library, one of the busiest in Christchurch’s library network, will be closed for refurbishment for six weeks from Monday 19 September. Work planned includes new flooring, roofing, and bathrooms, painting, and a renewed air conditioning system. During the closure items cannot be returned to the library, and hold items will be available at Fendalton Library, unless another site is requested. The customer service / NZ Post area will remain open.

Water sub-main renewals for St James Ave & Dalriada St
Contractors will start work on the renewal of water sub-main pipes in St James Avenue and Dalriada Street from 15 September. This work could impact traffic flow through the area and access to properties at times, and is expected to continue through to late October 2022. For more information see the works notice:

2 September Community Board meeting outcomes
On Friday 2 September, the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board:
-
- granted a ground lease to Shirley Community Trust in relation to the MacFarlane Park Neighbourhood Centre (former Plunket building);
- approved No Stopping restrictions in the Langdons Road area;
- approved public transport improvements along route 17;
- approved over $3,000 in ‘Summer with your neighbours’ grants;
- agreed to transitional arrangements for the Board’s Youth Development Fund;
- approved two grants from the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund;
- and approved a signalised pedestrian crossing on Northcote Road to support the new Marian College site.
The Board will not meet again this term. Following the local body elections, a date will be set for an inaugural meeting of the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Central Community Board.
