A new solution for public transport in ECan’s Long-Term Plan

Breaking news: following ‘overwhelming’ public opposition to their proposal to discontinue six Christchurch bus routes (498 opposing submissions, 48 supportive ones), ECan have had a rethink. The solution considered by ECan (and hopefully approved – to be confirmed) is detailed on the MetroInfo website. Specifically for the Papanui area, the 107 will be retained (but with reduced frequency and shorter operating hours) and the 108 will be ‘mostly absorbed’ into an extended 28 service, which will continue past its current terminus at Northlands and run through Bishopdale & Casebrook to Northwood.
