The Christchurch City Council is considering changes to the District Plan in relation to home-share accommodation (eg Airbnb etc). There appears to be widespread non-compliance with the current Plan, which requires a resource consent for whole unit listings (“only a handful” of hosts have applied for consent, despite an estimated 1600-plus listings requiring them).
