Night investigation works for Papanui crossing upgrades

Crossing upgrades beside the railway line are planned at Harewood Road, Langdons Road and Sawyers Arms Road to ensure the safety of people crossing the road, as well as both cyclists & pedestrians using the Northern Line Cycleway through this busy area. Designs, including signalised crossing points, have been on the table for some years now, and it looks like work is about to get underway. If you’re in the area, keep an eye out for investigation night works between 6pm & 6am on the following dates:
Harewood Road: 21-23 July
Langdons Road: 24-25 July & 28 July
Sawyers Arms Road: 29-31 July
There are likely to be lane reductions and traffic delays during this work, and the Harewood Rd works will include a road closure on Restell Street. Construction work for all three crossings is expected in September/October 2024, with final commissioning in early 2025.

Northern Line cycleway: new sections open

Both new sections of the Northern Line Cycleway are now open, providing a continuous route for cyclists and pedestrians from Northwood Boulevard through to Kilmarnock Street in Riccarton. Think Papanui understands that some final signal works are yet to be completed by KiwiRail at the Tuckers Road and Sturrocks Road railway crossings.
