Applications open: Summer with your Neighbours 2022-23

Applications for Summer with your Neighbours 2022-23 opened today. Neighbourhood Week was the brainchild of the Shirley-Papanui Community Board (now known as the Papanui-Innes Community Board), which held the first event in 1998. This popular event has grown from year to year and is promoted by the Christchurch City Council. Three years ago the Council extended the event for the whole summer after feedback from applicants and it is now known as Summer with your Neighbours.

Applications will close at 5pm on Friday 12 August 2022.

You can find more information and an online application form at http://ccc.govt.nz/GetTogether, and also hard copy forms are available from Council service centres for those who do not have easy access to the internet.

Consultation outcome: Papanui Slow Speed Neighbourhood

The Council has today approved speed reductions in the Papanui area, following public consultation and a recommendation from the Community Board.

Our Board recommendations for the Papanui Slow Speed Neighbourhood were accepted by Council today. Check out the map below for what this means – the yellow line areas will drop to 30km/hr, the dotted yellow will be variable (during school drop-off/pick up times) 30km/hr, and the blue will drop to 40km/hr.

The consultation feedback on this was very strongly in favour of the proposal, and it was extended out from Mays Rd to Innes Rd as a result of consultation. It’s good to note that these areas will be monitored to assess the impacts of the speed changes, and that council staff are working with police on how best to enforce the changes.
