The Council is asking for feedback on a 100-year strategy for the future of our water services, and up to $10 billion is budgeted to be spent, yet there was a near-zero turnout to the drop-in information sessions over the past couple of weeks. The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 12 July at 9am in the Charles Upham Room of the Papanui RSA. The agenda includes: funding allocations for the Board's Discretionary Response Fund and Positive Youth Development Fund; a re-revisit of a funding application from Aratupu Preschool; two applications to the Board's Positive Youth Development Fund; and an area report covering initiatives and issues within the Community Board area. Question of the day: do you know that the Council is currently consulting on a long-term water strategy? If you do know, are there any barriers to you getting involved / giving feedback? A reminder that there's a lane closed on Main North Road southbound at Prestons Road. This is planned to be in place until Monday 22 July – when Think Papanui checked it out this morning the lighter school-holiday traffic seemed to be coping okay. (Also note that there's no exit at Prestons Rd into Main North Rd due to the same roadworks.)

Our local Community Board initiated Neighbourhood Week back in 1998. Now known as ‘Summer with your neighbours’, this is an opportunity to apply to the Council for funding to support a local gathering. Applications are open from today until 16 August, and funding can be used from 25 October right through to late March 2020. Last year’s funding allocations ranged from $20 to $200.
