Good news out of yesterday’s Infrastructure,
With NZTA increasing their subsidy on certain transport projects to 75.5%, there is an opportunity that a couple of significant transport projects in the ward will be brought forward at the next Annual Plan, while at the same time not increasing the budget.

Council approves 40 km/h speed limit for Prestons subdivision
This week the Council voted in favour of a staff recommendation that the speed limit in the Prestons subdivision be reduced to 40 km/h. This is despite a motion to recommend this change being voted down at a recent joint meeting of community boards. An extra 150,000 people for greater Christchurch? Local councils and other organisations are collaborating on planning and managing the impacts of growth and development on the Greater Christchurch area. The partnership has published a draft settlement pattern update that looks 30 years ahead, outlining how the region will support future housing and business growth for an expected population increase of 150,000 people.
