Graham Condon pools to reopen on 1 June

The pools at Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centre are set to reopen to the public from Saturday 1 June. Completed works include the replacement of the pool filtration system; the installation of a new pool heating system – electric heat pumps to replace the pellet boiler; the installation of a new splash pad area for the toddler pool; and new fountain features.

Agenda for 9 May Community Board meeting

The Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board will meet at 4pm on Thursday 9 May in the Papanui boardroom.

The agenda includes:

  • public forum presentations from members of the public;
  • proposed changes relating to the signalised pedestrian crossing on Cranford Street just north of McFaddens Road (pic);
  • approval of the site and concept design for a changing rooms and community facility at Lancaster Park;
  • an application to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund;
  • and an area report on initiatives and issues within the Board area.

The meeting is open for the public to attend and will be livestreamed on the Board’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Papanui Anzac Day service

The Papanui Anzac Day service will be held at the Papanui RSA at 10am tomorrow, 25 April. Prior to the service there’ll be a parade from St James Ave, assembling at 9:15am and marching off at 9:30am. There’ll be road closures in the area during the morning, including parts of Harewood Road, Papanui Road, and Main North Road (for full road closure details see ccc.govt.nz/news-and-events/public-notices/show/1204).

Kerbside collection changes due to Anzac Day

This week, if your bins are usually collected on a Thursday they’ll be picked up on Friday 26 April instead. And if your bins are usually collected on a Friday, pop them out to be picked up on Saturday 27 April instead.

Note also that EcoDrop transfer stations will be closed on Anzac Day 25 April.

11 April Community Board meeting outcomes

On Thursday 11 April, the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board:

  • heard concerns about speeding and anti-social behaviour on Philpotts Road;
  • received deputations from St Bede’s and Marian College students in relation to Northcote Road;
  • approved a grant of $100,000 from its Better-Off Fund to the towards investigations of Northcote Road Corridor Safety Improvements;
  • approved two other grants from the Better-Off Fund, totalling $48,310;
  • approved no stopping restrictions for the Gambia Street / Grants Road / Rayburn Avenue intersection;
  • approved parking changes at Papanui Primary School;
  • approved parking changes for Chester Street East;
  • approved no stopping restrictions for Innes Road at Malvern Park;
  • approved grants to the Edgeware Tennis Club and Morrison Avenue Bowling Club;
  • and received a report on issues and initiatives within the Board area.
