Māori names gifted to Community Boards

The Star this week reports that Christchurch’s community boards have been given Māori names, to be added at the front of the current English ones. This reflects increased awareness of Māori worldview by community board members and Council staff. Our local board will be Waipapa / Papanui-Innes Community Board. See the article for more details.

Game on at the library

Papanui Library is one of three that is hosting a basketball and football computer game tournament for young gamers aged 12 and over during the upcoming school holidays. FIFA game fans can head to the Papanui Library (or Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre) on Monday, 9 July, while Linwood Library will host the basketball eSports on Tuesday, 17 July. Celebration for Redwood and Mairehau: the opening of the CNC Winters Road subway | NZ Transport Agency

The Winters Road cycle and pedestrian subway has opened! This structure has been built as part of the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC) project, and users of the QEII Drive shared path will now be diverted this way due to construction of the QEII Drive / CNC interchange. Members of the CNC project team were on hand at the opening, giving spot prizes to many of the first users of the subway.

Agenda of Papanui-Innes Community Board – 4 July 2018

Proposed road layout options for the Christchurch Northern Corridor (CNC) are back on the agenda for the Papanui-Innes Community Board. At the 20 June meeting, the board deferred any decision on CNC road layout options, in order to first receive further information from staff.
