Ray White Papanui & Papanui Rotary Kids Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Update: although free, this event is ticketed. The organisers have announced in the Facebook event that they are at capacity with 400 tickets claimed.
On Thursday 31 October there’ll be a kids Halloween scavenger hunt in St James Park in Papanui, organised by Ray White Papanui and Rotary Club of Papanui. The event is suitable for children 12 years and under (accompanied by an adult). Click through for details:

(Now reopened) Glandovey/Idris intersection closed due to a serious crash
Due to a serious crash, roads around the intersection of Glandovey Rd and Idris Rd are closed this morning (Tue 22 October). These closures are expected to remain in place during the morning peak. Follow Transport for Christchurch for updates.
Rotary Club of Papanui fundraising raffle
The Rotary Club of Papanui are running a fundraising trailer raffle. Tickets can be purchased, and first prize is on display, at the Countdown end of Northlands Shopping Centre.
Graham Condon Centre to close in Jan for refurbishment
Do you swim or exercise at the Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centre? It will close for maintenance and refurbishment work this summer, from mid-January. The main hall and gym will re-open in February, and the remainder of the centre – including the pools – in April 2020. Click through for more information:

St Joseph’s School Spring Market: 20 October
It's spring market season! As well as today's at Aratupu Preschool (https://www.facebook.com/events/1099410316915407/), the St Joseph's School Spring Market will run from 8:30am to 12pm tomorrow, Sunday 20 October. It will be a mix between a mini school fair and a large garage sale. There will be a number of stalls with something for everyone: White Elephant, toys, books, board games, jigsaws, new plants, cakes, lollies, coffee cart, BBQ sausages and more. I posted some photos from the Community Fun Day run by the team at Mitre 10 Mega Papanui.
Progress results in the local body elections were released on the afternoon of Saturday 12 October. I posted the initial results for Papanui Ward and then later in the week the final count. I also presented an election special edition of my weekly news video.

Entries are open in the Papanui-Innes Edible and Sustainable Garden Awards.

- There’ll be a spring market at Aratupu Preschool and Nursery this Saturday 19 October.
- On Sunday 3 November, the Whakaoho Papanui Community Day will be happening at Papanui Domain (with an alternative venue in the event of wet weather).

Final election results announced
The special votes have been counted, and the final Christchurch City Council election results have been declared this afternoon. Mike Davidson will represent Papanui Ward as Councillor for the next three years, and Emma Norrish and Simon Britten as Community Board members. Useful social media links are:
