Grimseys Road closure at QEII Drive from 27 February

Grimseys Road will be closed at QEII Drive for more than two months from next Tuesday evening 27 February. From next week also watch out for changed traffic patterns on Daniels Road and Main North Road due to the closure. Invitation to attend a community waterways workshop

Waterway workshops: the following invitation is from the latest Papanui-Innes Community Board newsletter:
“You are invited to attend one of our community waterways workshops.

These are part of a wider research project to help identify and develop actions to improve the quality of Christchurch waterways.

The workshops will be held on:
• Monday, 19 February Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board Boardroom (Fendalton Library and Service Centre).
• Wednesday, 21 February Hao Room (Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre).
• Monday, 26 February Papanui-Innes Community Board Boardroom (Papanui Library and Service Centre).
• Thursday, 1 March Beckenham Community Boardroom (South Library).

These enjoyable workshops are fully catered.

Each workshop will run between 6pm and 8pm, with the venue opening for food and non-alcoholic refreshments from 5.30pm.

Council releases 10-year plan

The Christchurch City Council is in the process of releasing a draft long term plan for 2018-2028. This is a big picture plan that must be prepared every three years, outlining the what, when, and how of planned Council spending. The draft plan will be considered by Council this Wednesday 21 Feb, after which it is due to be released for feedback. Submissions will likely be able to be made from Friday 9 March to 13 April 2018. The Christchurch City Council is proposing raising rates by an average of 5.5 per cent from July this year, which is below what was forecast for 2018-19 in the previous Long Term Plan 2015-2025.

Northcote Road closure

Edit: as at 10:05am Northcote Road is reported to be reopened and flowing freely. ^SB

Northcote Road has been closed, apparently for a scene examination in relation to an incident that happened early this morning. Please take care if you are in the area and watch out for traffic. Follow Transport for Christchurch for updates.


NORTHCOTE RD – POLICE OPERATION – ROAD NOW OPEN – 10.05AM 17 FEB – FINAL UPDATE

Northcote Rd has now been reopened. Traffic is free flowing in the area. ^LT

The closure on Northcote Rd remains in place. Traffic is being detoured via local roads and traffic is moving smoothly.

The detour adds about another 3-5min to the drive time in the area.

The road is expected reopen around midday. ^LT

Due to a police operation Northcote Rd is currently closed between Cavendish Rd and Northfield Rd.

Westbound traffic are being detoured at Cavendish Rd, eastbound traffic are being detoured at Northfield Rd.
