From Monday 18 May for around six weeks, contractors will be working to implement permanent peak-hour bus lanes on Cranford Street between Innes Road and Berwick Street. This includes updates of the existing road marking & signage, and installation of bus lane cameras, along with safety improvements at the Cranford Street / Westminster Street intersection and the English Park signalised crossing.
This work was approved by the Council in December 2024, following a recommendation by the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board.
While the bus lanes have operated as a trial since 2021, they have not yet been enforced. This construction will formally implement the permanent layout of the bus lanes and provide for enforcement.
