The shared path linking Grassmere and Rutland Streets is set to be closed through most of July for construction of the Grassmere to Mays Water Supply Link.
The path is part of the Papanui Parallel major cycle route, and both cyclists and pedestrians will be required to detour while work is underway, which will also impact the link through Rutland Reserve to Cranford Street.
The work is part of a package of enabling infrastructure projects supported by Infrastructure Acceleration Funding to enable housing development in the East Papanui / Cranford Basin area.
$30.9 million in infrastructure funding for Papanui was announced in 2022.
