Papanui Bush working bee 27 Jan

There’ll be a working bee at Papanui Bush this Friday 27 January, with Rotary Club of Papanui and Conservation Volunteers New Zealand weeding and releasing plantings. Come along and be part of this project and learn more about the history of Papanui Bush and the area. BYO sturdy footwear, suitable clothing and gloves/tools if you have them. The St Albans Skate Jam is on tomorrow 21 January from 12 midday to 3:30pm at the St Albans Skate Park. Join the Skate Skool team and learn how to skateboard. Term 1 Adult and Community Education courses open for registration

Term 1 courses at Papanui High School Adult and Community Education are open for registration. Click through to the Facebook page or head to www.papanui.school.nz/adult-education for more information.

Papanui High School is offering both Beginners and Advanced Stone Carving Courses for Term 1 2023. The Beginners course is designed to give students an introduction to sculpting in Oamaru Stone. The Advanced class follows on from the Beginners course and students will be working in a detailed way on a large piece of stone. Students must have completed a Beginners course or have a good experience in Stone Carving to join the Advanced course. 16 December Community Board meeting outcomes

On Friday 16 December, the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board:

  • heard from Citycare’s community partnership advisor;
  • heard from members of the public regarding car parking in Mary Street and the Briggs/Marshland/Lake Terrace intersection;
  • received correspondence, including regarding flooding on Francis Avenue, and requested some actions from staff regarding this;
  • approved safety changes at the Briggs/Marshland/Lake Terrace intersection;
  • approved no stopping restrictions on Bishop Street at Purchas Street;
  • approved funding for garden awards, youth events, community liaison activities, and a new Board initiate – a school civic award;
  • approved five applications to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund;
  • approved governance arrangements, including a meeting schedule for the term;
  • and received a report from staff on initiatives and issues within the Board area.
