Council to decide on Harewood intersection

The recommendation of the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board for traffic lights at the Harewood/Gardiners/Breens intersection goes to the full Council on Thursday 12 September. (Council staff had recommended a left-in/left-out configuration for the intersection with a signalised pedestrian crossing, noting that this was the safest option, while traffic lights were less safe than the status quo.) The Community Board's recommendation went to the Council's Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee, which decided to refer it directly to the Council. Details can be found at item 33 on the Council's agenda, and members of the public can attend the meeting (in the Council chambers, commencing at 9:30am), or watch a live stream at http://councillive.ccc.govt.nz/live-stream.
