Council confirms peak-hour bus lanes to stay on Cranford Street

Peak-hour bus lanes will remain on Cranford Street, following Council approval of the design option recommended by the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board. The lanes will run between Innes Road and Berwick Street citybound, while the northbound lane will run between Westminster Street and Innes Road.

Council plan change may increase permitted Papanui building heights

On Monday 2 December the Council will consider a report on about 50 recommendations from the city’s Housing and Business Choice Plan Change – Plan Change 14.

Recommendations include accepting building heights of 22m (equivalent to 10 stories) in Town Centre Zones including Papanui. A High Density Residential Zone around the Papanui town centre has a recommended building height of 14m.

Community Board meeting outcomes – 14 November 2024

On 14 November, the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board:

  • heard 15 deputations in relation to Cranford Street, as well as two public forum presentations;
  • approved laneway names for the Performing Arts Precinct;
  • recommended to Council the bus lane option for Cranford Street;
  • deferred a decision on a funding application from the Community Focus Trust;
  • and received an area report on issues and initiatives in the Board area.

The Board will next meet on Thursday 12 December.

Celebrate Bishopdale and Bishopdale Skate Jam: 23 November

The annual Celebrate Bishopdale event takes place on Saturday 23 November at Bishopdale Park from 11am to 2pm. This is a family fun day with a wide range of performances, stalls, activities and food.

At the same time, the Bishopdale Skate Jam will be taking place over at the skate bowl.

Agenda of 14 November Community Board meeting

The Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board will meet this Thursday 14 November 2024 at 10am in the Papanui boardroom.

The majority of the meeting time is likely to be taken up with consideration of options for Cranford Street between Innes Road and Berwick Street (recommended clearway option pictured). The agenda also includes: proposed laneway names for the performing arts precinct; an application to the Board’s Discretionary Response Fund; and an area report with an overview of initiatives and issues within the Board area.

The meeting is open for the public to attend and will be streamed on the Board’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
