It's spring market season! As well as today's at Aratupu Preschool (https://www.facebook.com/events/1099410316915407/), the St Joseph's School Spring Market will run from 8:30am to 12pm tomorrow, Sunday 20 October. It will be a mix between a mini school fair and a large garage sale. There will be a number of stalls with something for everyone: White Elephant, toys, books, board games, jigsaws, new plants, cakes, lollies, coffee cart, BBQ sausages and more. This year the Whakaoho Papanui Community Day returns to Papanui Domain! The event will run from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 3 November, with stalls, activities, and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. See https://www.facebook.com/events/976579729349905/
Entries are open in the Papanui-Innes Edible and Sustainable Garden Awards. The awards recognise and support individuals, groups, schools, communities and businesses that grow their own food. There are residential, school, and community/business categories, and special awards including best sustainability features and best first-time garden. Entries close 20 January 2020. Progress results show that Emma Norrish has been returned as a Community Board member in Papanui Ward, and will be joined by Think Papanui founder & curator Simon Britten. The current count shows Simon on 2,151 votes, 28 votes ahead of Nathan McCluskey. Preliminary results will be available tomorrow and final results after 18 October. Mike Davidson has been returned as Councillor for Papanui.

From Monday 14 October there will be further traffic changes and speed restrictions on Cranford Street, as 4-laning of the road between the CNC roundabout and Innes Road gets underway.
