
[UPDATE 1 March] Think Papanui understands that no additional speed limit increases are being contemplated, but work has stopped on development of a Speed Management Plan, and implementation of reductions approved in 2023 has been halted, including the areas in Papanui and Redwood indicated in this post: https://thinkpapanui.nz/archives/6187.
The speed limit on Claremont Avenue in Papanui is set to be increased, as required by the Government’s new Land Transport Rule. Six other roads in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula will also change at this stage. The Council is also investigating other roads where speed limits that don’t comply with the requirements in the Rule.
