Marian College to move to Papanui
In 2018 an ‘entertainment and sports terminus’ was proposed for the former Foodstuffs site behind the Northcote / Main North Road intersection. Today it has been reported that the back part of the site has been purchased by the Catholic church, and Marian College will move there in around four years’ time. Click through for more details:

St Vincent de Paul’s Papanui rebuild is progressing
The rebuild of the St Vincent de Paul store in Langdons Rd is progressing. In the meantime they’re operating out of a temporary site in Bishopdale Mall.
Night closures to QEII Drive eastbound from 10 March
Night closures to QEII Drive eastbound from 10 March: due to CNC-related works at the Innes Road roundabout, there will be periodic closures of QEII Dr eastbound, between Main North Rd and Innes Rd. This will impact entrances to QEII Dr from Main North Rd / Northcote Rd, from Grimseys Rd, and from Hills Rd. Closures will be intermittent from 10 March through the rest of the month.
Delayed to 13 March: QEII Dr lane swap / Grimseys reopening
On the morning of Wednesday 13 March traffic on QEII Drive between Grimseys Rd & Main North Rd is due to be swapped over onto the newly-built lanes, and then the existing lanes will be upgraded so that the road ends up two lanes each way. Grimseys Rd is due to reopen left-in and left-out following this lane swap.
NB this was previously notified as happening on the 10th of March, but has been delayed.

Agenda of Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board – 8 March 2019
The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 8 March at 9am in the Papanui boardroom. The meeting is open for the public to attend. There is a pretty brief agenda for this meeting: a report-back from a young person supported through the Board's Positive Youth Development Fund; a member of the public will speak to the Board about speeds on a Belfast road; some Council correspondence on the sale of a portion of Council land to Ideal Electrical in Sawyers Arms Road; and an area report on initiatives and issues current within the Community Board area. The last remaining part of the Papanui Sanitarium factory is being demolished today – the end of an era, having started operating in the suburb around 1901.

Strengthening Communities Fund open for applications
The Christchurch City Council Strengthening Communities Fund supports community-focused organisations whose projects contribute to the strengthening of community wellbeing in the Christchurch city area. The fund is open for applications through to Tuesday 9 April 2019. Organisations may apply at a metropolitan or Community Board level.
