Langdons Road resealing from 16 April

Watch out for road closures & traffic disruption around Langdons Road for a day or two from Tuesday 16 April. There’s nothing showing up on the Council’s ‘work in your area’ web page at the time of writing, but after making inquiries with City Care, Think Papanui can confirm that the road between Oakland Street and the new retail development is getting a long-awaited repair (it’s not a complete reconstruction of the road, but at least there’ll be a chip seal over the existing patches etc).

More details of Papanui site for Marian College

This week’s Nor’West News includes more details of the new site for Marian College, to be built on the Foodstuffs site in Papanui. The main entrance will be off Lydia Street, and the school won’t extend all the way to the Main North Road frontage (where Foodstuffs are reported to be seeking consent for a new Pak’n’Save supermarket). Nor’West News: ‘Papanui traffic report stalled’?

A headline in this week’s Nor’West News is ‘Papanui traffic report stalled’, in reference to a Council report first requested in 2017 and yet to be released. The Waipapa/ Papanui Innes Community Board however has stated in a Facebook post today that “the Roading report is not and has not been stalled”. Board chairwoman Ali Jones states in the article that the report release “will come soon”.

Bomb squad Papanui call out – “no risk to the public”
