New homes planned for the Cranford Basin

As reported in the Nor’West News, following a consultation process in 2017 over use of the land in the Cranford Basin, the City Council is negotiating with developers over construction of houses in the area. So far an agreement has been signed for the delivery of 40 houses by the end of 2020, with 370 houses expected once development is complete. One way to learn more about the Christchurch City Council Long Term Plan is to get down to one of our Christchurch City Libraries and pick up a copy of these documents. Our libraries also have a bound copy of the full draft plan for people who love the details! All this consultation information has been sighted locally by Think Papanui in both the Papanui and Redwood libraries, and no doubt all other libraries across the city will have it too.

Change of venue: please note that from this Friday 16 March the free all-ages Friday afternoon community sports programme is moving from Paddington Reserve to Northcote School. From this Friday we are running our sports program out of Northcote School. The weather has not been consistent so we have moved so we dont have to worry about the weather any more. This is a FREE afterschool sports program run by Neighbourhood Links & Te Ora Hou. We welcome all school age kids as well as parents/caregivers, come down and see Tuts, Sneaky and Stacey!!!!

Youth Transport Submission Workshop – ECan Long Term Plan

12-24 year olds in Papanui (and beyond): there is an opportunity tomorrow Thursday 15 March to be supported to make a submission about ECan’s transport plans (reminder: these plans include discontinuing the 107 and 108 bus lines in the Papanui area). Click through to the event for details… The youth reference group for sustainable transport (YRGST) along with the support of Youth Voice Canterbury (YVC) and Environment Canterbury (ECan) are going to run workshop to help put together a submission to address the transport section of Environment Canterbury’s Long Term Plan (LTP).

In this workshop, we’ll get your ideas and suggestions down in full to help put together a submission to help represent youth voice. This workshop is open for any one between the ages of 12 – 24.

Consultation for the LTP closes on the 26th of March.

Car boot sale fundraiser

This Saturday 17 March from 8am to 12pm, this local community organisation is hosting a car boot sale on their site at 77 Windermere Road in Papanui. There currently remains a small number of spaces available if you would like to book a $10 spot – see the event details for more information. On Saturday 17 March Te Ora Hou ĹŚtautahi is holding a car boot sale on site at 77 Windermere Road in Papanui. This is a fundraiser for our Whakapakari Leadership Development Programme. Please come down between 8am-12pm to check out what is on offer, including toys, clothes, shoes, homeware, a sausage sizzle, and more.
