The Papanui-Innes Community Board will meet this Friday 10 November at 9am in the Papanui Board Room. The agenda includes: a staff report on the feasibility of an additional bus stop on Main North Road (additional stops are not recommended by staff); a no stopping restriction for Paparoa Street at Papanui Road; and a report on the possibility of a new skate park in the Papanui Ward (Not currently funded, but recommended to be submitted for consideration in the Long Term Plan. Possible sites include Papanui Domain and Redwood Park.)

At the 30 October meeting of the Papanui Innes Community Board, the feasibility of an additional northbound bus stop on Main North Road was discussed, three young people who had been supported by the Positive Youth Development Fund reported on their activities, and staff from the Belfast Community Network presented on their work at the Redwood Library. Watch out for heavy traffic through Redwood & Belfast this morning following this crash on Marshlands Road. Follow Transport for Christchurch for updates.


6:20AM 3NOV – CRASH – ROAD CLOSED – MARSHLAND RD

Due to a serious crash Marshland Rd is being CLOSED between Main North Rd and Prestons Rd.

Detours are in place:

Southbound traffic detoured will continue on Main North Rd towards Dickeys Rd and through Belfast.

Northbound traffic will be detoured along Prestons Rd and onto Main North Rd.

Motorists heading into the city from Kaiapoi that would normally use Main North Rd over the Old Waimakariri Bridge are advised to use the Tram Rd on-ramp and use the Northern Motorway at this time.

Motorists are advised to expect delays as morning traffic increases. ^JP

Opening today: CNC office / visitor centre

Opening today: the new office / visitor centre for the Christchurch Northern Corridor, at the corner of Cranford Street and Innes Road (next to Kidd’s Cakes). From today 1 November, public drop-in sessions are Wednesdays 3pm-5pm and Fridays 10am-12pm. You will find information and the design plans on display, and you can ask questions and give feedback on the project.
