The agenda for this Friday’s meeting of the Papanui-Innes Community Board includes: a change to the Tomes Road crossing for Paparoa Street School; other parking and traffic control proposals; and a report on the feasibility of extending the St Albans Skate Park. Young people in Papanui (and the rest of Christchurch), check out this event from the Christchurch Youth Council, aimed at first time voters or anyone who would benefit from more information about why their vote matters and what each major political party stands for. 5:30pm Tuesday 11 July – click through for details. Christchurch Youth Council supported by PYLAT would like to invite you to come along share some kai and engage with local politicians about the vision, goals and principles of their political parties!

This event is aimed at first time voters or anyone who would benefit from more information about why their vote matters and what each major political party stands for.

This event will be non-confrontational, and is run predominantly by other young people. There will be free food and opportunities to ask questions and mingle with others attending.

The Christchurch Youth Council is an organisation comprised of young people aged 12-24 who want to empower other young people in Christchurch.

At the 30 June board meeting, the Papanui-Innes Community Board: resolved to write to the Police to express its concerns about “boy racers” speeding up Farnswood Place; approved a change to give way controls at Mary Street, Frank Street and Gambia Street; approved Discretionary Response Fund and Positive Youth Development grants; requested in investigation into a replacement for the former bus stop outside the Countdown Supermarket at Northlands Mall; and requested an investigation into sites & costings for a skate park for youth in the Papanui area.

This Sunday 9 July from 11am you can explore the cycleway with this community event, meeting at Rutland Reserve and finishing at Edgeware Village. See the flyer for details or contact the St Albans Residents’ Association. PS if you’re using the cycleway, take care between Rutland Street & Edgeware Road, as that section is still under construction.
