I posted about a Santa photo fundraiser being run by Northcote School – the deadline to book a spot is today, 6 December.

Resurfacing on Cranford Street has been on the go-slow, but the CNC Alliance has announced a resumption of the work.

Top post of the week was news that the Papanui end of Harewood Road was closed last Sunday morning due to an accident at the railway line.

The China Kitchen, closed due to the Guy Fawkes fire, is hunting for a new site in the Papanui area.

The public hearing into the Resource Consent application for a PAK’nSAVE supermarket on Main North Road took place this week.

The Rotary Club of Papanui has drawn a winner in their fundraising raffle.

• Feedback on the proposed revamp of the Bishopdale Skate Park is due by Tuesday 10 December.

• Tonight from 6pm is the School’s Out pool party at Jellie Park, for young people in school years 7 to 13.
• This Tuesday 10 December there’ll be a community weeding morning at Papanui Bush.
• In the evening on Tuesday the Redwood Business & Residents Group will meet.

The public hearing into the Foodstuffs application for Resource Consent for a PAK'nSAVE supermarket on Main North Road starts tomorrow, 3 December, at 9:30am in The Atrium (Netball Centre) at 455 Hagley Avenue. The hearing is set down to run for three days, with the applicants presenting on the first day, and public submitters on Wednesday 4 December. The hearing is open for the public to attend. Despite the optimistic sign in the window, the best dumplings in Christchurch might be off the menu for a while. The China Kitchen is looking for a new site, preferably still in Papanui, following the fire early in November. More information at:

Harewood Rd is closed this morning in both directions at the Papanui Rd intersection. Emergency services are on the scene. Take care if you’re in the area & watch out for traffic disruptions.

Resurfacing on Cranford Street has been delayed by technical glitches and issues with the subsurface. The CNC Alliance has now announced that chip sealing and asphalting work is restarting. Once the west side is done, traffic will be swapped to that side while the east side is worked on. Read more in this project update:

Christchurch North Community Patrol has a fundraising campaign underway towards the replacement of a patrol vehicle.

I shared about outcomes from last Friday’s meeting of the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board.

St James Avenue will be closed this coming week for chip sealing.

A Facebook Group has been set up to connect people associated with the former Methodist Children’s Home in Papanui.
